Raphaël (Nathan) Bischoffsheim est un marchand et philanthrope né à Bischofsheim-sur-la-Tauber en 1773 et mort à Mayence le 22 janvier 1814. Installé à Mayence pendant la Révolution française, il passe de petit commerçant à fournisseur de l'armée, préside la communauté juive de la ville et figure, dans une liste datée du 21 avril 1808, parmi les vingt-cinq Juifs les plus en vue de Mayence appelés à désigner des notables pour le grand Sanhédrin de Paris.
