Gustav Wilhelm Hugo Bickell est un hébraïsant chrétien et professeur à l'université de Vienne, né le 7 juillet 1838 à Cassel. Après des études de langues sémitiques à Marbourg, il renonce au protestantisme pour l'Église catholique et devient en 1867 professeur d'archéologie chrétienne et de langues sémitiques à Innsbruck, puis, en 1892, à Vienne; il publie de nombreux ouvrages hébraïques, dont son « Grundriss der Hebräischen Grammatik » (Leipsic, 1869-70) et sa traduction métrique du Livre de Job (1894).
