Corneille Bonaventure Bertram est un pasteur protestant et hébraïsant né à Thouars, en France, en 1531, et mort à Lausanne, en Suisse, en 1594. Après des études à Poitiers, Paris, Toulouse et Cahors, il fuit à Genève, où il devient en 1567 professeur de langues orientales à l'université; il y publie plusieurs ouvrages hébraïques, dont « De Politia Judaica tam Civili quam Ecclesiastica » (1580), qui connut de nombreuses éditions, et une traduction très appréciée de la Bible (1588), suivant Sébastien Münster et Tremellius tout en recourant volontiers aux commentaires rabbiniques.
