Lev Bernardovitch Bertensohn est un médecin russe né à Odessa le 10 août 1850, fils de Bernard et neveu de Joseph Bertensohn, diplômé du gymnase Larine de Saint-Pétersbourg en 1867 puis de l'Académie de médecine de la même ville en 1872. Il enseigne de 1876 à 1887 à l'hôpital Rojdestvenskaïa, avant d'être nommé en 1887 président de la commission pour l'amélioration des sources minérales du Caucase; il publie en 1873 son ouvrage principal de balnéologie et, en 1883, un article sur Tourgueniev, qu'il soigna dans ses dernières années.
