Oscar Berger est un électrothérapeute et auteur médical allemand né à Münsterberg, en Silésie, le 24 novembre 1844, et mort à Ober-Salzbrunn, en Silésie, le 19 juillet 1885. Docteur en médecine en 1867, il exerce à partir de 1869 à Breslau, se spécialisant dans l'électrothérapie, devient privat-docent en 1873 — le premier de cette université à enseigner les maladies nerveuses — puis, en 1877, médecin-chef et inspecteur médical de l'hospice de Breslau; il se consacra notamment à l'étude des névralgies et, avec Heidenheim, de l'hypnotisme, codirigeant le « Neurologisches Centralblatt ».
