Issachar Baer b. Samuel Berenstein est un rabbin néerlandais né à Leeuwarde, en Hollande, en 1808, et mort à La Haye le 13 décembre 1893, fils du grand-rabbin d'Amsterdam Samuel b. Berish Berenstein. Dayyan de cette ville à la mort de son père en 1838, il en exerça la fonction dix années durant avant de devenir, en 1848, grand-rabbin de La Haye, poste qu'il occupa quarante-cinq ans, contribuant à la création d'un orphelinat, d'un hôpital juif et d'une société d'histoire et de littérature juives; décoré de l'ordre du Lion d'or, il mourut à l'âge de quatre-vingt-cinq ans, pleuré par toute la population de la capitale néerlandaise.
