Benjamin b. Mattithiah est un rabbin et marchand actif en Turquie dans la première moitié du seizième siècle, membre du collège rabbinique d'Arta, connu pour l'indépendance de ses décisions légales, qui lui valut de nombreuses controverses avec ses contemporains. Son recueil de responsa, « Benjamin Ze'eb » (Venise, 1539), publié en partie pour se justifier, fut mal accueilli par les rabbins italiens et polonais de l'époque; son ordonnance interdisant aux hommes et aux femmes de danser ensemble se heurta notamment à une forte résistance.
