Rabbin né à Asti, il occupa des postes rabbiniques en Italie avant de devenir haham de la communauté séfarade de Londres en 1866, où il fut très actif dans l'éducation. Il publia un recueil de sermons (1873) et écrivit des odes et prières en hébreu ainsi que des poèmes en italien.
