Bénédikt, Rodolphe

Rudolf Benedikt is an Austrian chemist born in Döbling on July 12, 1852 and died in Vienna on February 6, 1896. Trained at the Polytechnicum of Vienna, he became assistant in technical chemistry there in 1872, held a similar position in analytical chemistry from 1876, then was appointed full professor in 1890; his main work, « Die Künstlichen Farbstoffe », appeared in 1883.

Chimiste autrichien ; né à Döbling le 12 juillet 1852 ; mort à Vienne le 6 février 1896. Il fit ses études au Polytechnic (HighSchool) de Vienne, où il fut nommé en 1872 assistant-professeur de chimie technique. En 1876, il fut nommé à un poste similaire en rapport avec les études en chimie analytique, et en 1890 il fut nommé professeur titulaire. Son principal ouvrage est « Die Künstlichen Farbstoffe », 1883. Parmi ses articles dans des revues techniques figurent : « Ueber Salze und Borsäure », dans « Vortrag. Gegeben in der Deutschen Chemischen Gesellschaft », Berlin, 1874 ; et « Halogenderivate » dans « Sitzung-Bericht der Kais. Akademie der Wissenschaften », Vienne, 1884.
