L'un des plus éminents casuistes orientaux, fils de Moïse Nuñez Belmonte, actif à Smyrne à la fin du XVIIIe siècle et au début du XIXe. Il publia un commentaire des deux premières parties du Michné Torah de Maïmonide sous le titre « Sha'ar ha-Melekh » (Salonique, 1771 ; 2e éd. annotée par Baruch ben Jonas Jeiteles, Brünn, 1801 ; 3e éd. annotée par Joseph Saül Nathanson, Lemberg, 1859), l'une des productions les plus importantes de la casuistique orientale, ainsi que le « Derekh ha-Sha'ar », discours publié dans le « Darkhé ha-Yam » de Raphaël Maggio (Salonique, 1813).
