Écrivain polyglotte et philologue grec né à Corfou le 31 octobre 1862. Il édite en 1877 un vocabulaire hébreu-grec pour le livre de la Genèse, puis étudie à l'université d'Athènes avant de gagner l'Italie, où il devient principal des écoles juives de Livourne. En 1890, il démissionne de ce poste, séjourne à Paris et contribue à la « Revue des Études Juives » ; témoin des émeutes antijuives de Corfou, il en rend compte pour l'Alliance israélite universelle. Il traduit en grec l'« Histoire des Juifs » de Théodore Reinach (Athènes, 1895) et représente en 1899 le gouvernement grec au douzième Congrès des orientalistes.
