Prédicateur et enseignant à Amsterdam, doté d'une profonde connaissance de la littérature biblique et rabbinique et poète hébreu accompli, il enseigne la troisième classe du Talmud Torah et officie comme prédicateur des sociétés caritatives Maskil el-Dal et Temimé Dérekh. Il prononça l'oraison funèbre de son beau-père, Isaac da Fonseca Aboab, puis, en 1693, un sermon commémoratif en son honneur, encore conservé en manuscrit ; ses « Sermoens Pregados » parurent la même année à Amsterdam, ainsi qu'un poème hébraïque plus ample sur Adam au Paradis, « Toledot Adam », resté lui aussi manuscrit.
