Behrend, Friedrich Jacob

Médecin allemand né à Neu-Stettin, en Poméranie, le 12 juin 1803, mort à Berlin le 30 mai 1889. Destiné d'abord au commerce, il devient employé à Königsberg en 1819, avant d'abandonner ce poste en 1821 pour préparer des études universitaires ; il entre à l'université de Königsberg en 1823 et s'installe comme médecin à Berlin en 1829. Il y devient examinateur médical pour la police, puis, en 1876, médecin en chef de la « Sittenpolizei ». Behrend dirigea plusieurs revues médicales et publia de nombreux ouvrages sur la syphilis, les maladies cutanées et l'hygiène publique.
