Orientaliste et théologien allemand né le 22 mai 1649, mort le 2 février 1701. Formé aux langues orientales sous Vossius à Iéna, il s'établit comme prédicateur à Augsbourg. Il publia une traduction du Targoum sur les Chroniques et traduisit, sans les publier, plusieurs autres ouvrages depuis l'hébreu, dont les récits de voyage de Benjamin de Tudèle et de Pétahia de Ratisbonne, ainsi que des commentaires d'Abravanel sur deux des Prophètes ; parmi ses œuvres publiées figure aussi le « Monumenta Antiqua Judaica Augustæ Vindelicorum Reperta ».
