Missionnaire à Jassy, en Roumanie, né vers 1840 dans le gouvernement de Mohilev, en Russie. En 1869, il se rend à Constantinople, où des missionnaires anglais le convertissent au christianisme. Il est l'auteur d'un ouvrage intitulé « The Modern Hebrew, and the Hebrew Christian » (Londres, 1882), qui s'ouvre sur une autobiographie et traite notamment de la religion et des rites juifs. En septembre 1881, il publie également un journal en allemand, « Eintracht », plaidant la cause des Juifs contre l'agitation antisémite en Allemagne.
