Pasteur protestant né à Rouen, en France, le 8 août 1653, mort en Hollande le 22 décembre 1725. Après avoir dirigé l'Église protestante de Rouen, il devient, à la suite de la révocation de l'édit de Nantes, pasteur de l'Église wallonne de Rotterdam en 1686, puis du Temple de La Haye en 1691. Diplomate réputé, il consacre ses loisirs à la théologie et à l'histoire des religions, publiant notamment son « Histoire et Religion des Juifs Depuis Jésus-Christ Jusqu'à Présent », parue à Rotterdam à partir de 1706.
