Jurisconsulte italien né à Mantoue en 1780, mort à Milan en 1867. Sa réputation lui valut d'être choisi pour défendre Andreas Hofer devant la cour martiale. Lorsque le gouvernement autrichien remplaça le gouvernement français, Basevi s'installa à Milan, où il demeura jusqu'à sa mort. Ses principaux ouvrages comprennent un traité sur la dissolution des fiefs (1844) et un commentaire du code civil autrichien, réédité sept fois entre 1845 et 1857.
