Rabbin italien ordonné à Mantoue en 1564, puis à la tête d'une yeshiva à Ferrare. Il prit part en 1554 à la conférence des communautés juives d'Italie à Ferrare. « Forti » est la traduction italienne de l'hébreu « Hazak » (fort), d'où le diminutif Chaschetto/Hazketto. Il édita des textes majeurs (voir œuvres).

Rabbin italien et éditeur ; il vécut à Ferrare et à Mantoue au seizième siècle. « Forti » est la traduction italienne de « Ḥazaḳ », nom d'une famille hébraïque à laquelle appartenait Baruch Uzziel ; le diminutif italien « Chaschetto » en fut formé par la suite. Le 22 mai 1564, Forti fut nommé grand-rabbin de Mantoue. Il est cité comme une autorité par plusieurs rabbins éminents, tels que Moïse Isserles (Responsa, No. 36) et Meïr de Padoue (Responsa, No. 9). Forti édita le « Ma'yene ha-Yeshu'ah » d'Isaac Abravanel, auquel il ajouta une préface constituée de la biographie d'Abravanel (Ferrare, 1551) et des critiques de Moïse Alashkar contre le « Sefer ha-Emunot » de Shem-Ṭob (_ib._ 1556). Il fournit également un index alphabétique au Mishneh Torah (Venise, 1586).
