Marchand judéo-polonais brûlé sur le bûcher à Saint-Pétersbourg le 15 juillet 1738, il avait prospéré dans le commerce grâce à la protection de nobles. En 1722, des marchands de Smolensk l'accusent d'avoir érigé une synagogue à Zvyerovichi et maltraité le prêtre du village ; le Saint-Synode ordonne la démolition du lieu de culte, et Catherine Ire finit par ordonner son expulsion de Russie. En 1783, accusé d'avoir converti et circoncis un officier de marine, il périt au bûcher sur ordre de l'impératrice Anna, épisode suivi de mesures répressives contre les juifs en 1739 et 1740.
