Rabbin et auteur talmudique allemand, né à Wiesenbronn, en Bavière, le 1er mai 1835, fils du rabbin Seligman Baer Bamberger, dont il reçut sa première instruction talmudique, il passa son examen de rabbin à Wurtzbourg en 1860 et occupa ensuite plusieurs postes rabbiniques, à Sulzburg, en Suisse puis en Alsace, avant de s'établir à Sennheim en 1887. Il rédigea des notes lexicographiques sur divers traités du Talmud sous le titre « Limmud 'Aruk » — sur Shabbat (Fürth, 1868), Berakhot (1872), et Meguila (Berlin, 1897), ce dernier incluant des responsa de son père —, et traduisit le manuel de celui-ci sur la Cheḥita, le « More la-Zobeḥim » (1894).
