Bamberger, Édouard Adrien

Député et médecin français, né à Strasbourg le 25 septembre 1825, bachelier en 1843 puis docteur en médecine en 1847, il s'installa à Metz en 1858 et milita pour l'instruction obligatoire et l'abolition de la peine de mort. Élu représentant de la Moselle à l'Assemblée nationale en février 1871, il démissionna après le vote du traité cédant l'Alsace-Lorraine, puis reprit son siège après l'insurrection du 18 mars 1871 ; réélu à Neuilly-sur-Seine en 1876 puis à Saint-Denis en 1877, il fut battu en 1881 et nommé bibliothécaire adjoint au Muséum d'histoire naturelle. Resté juif par conviction, il demanda en vain l'exemption du samedi pour les apprentis juifs.
