Banquier, il fut en février 1854 le premier juif élu par ses concitoyens catholiques à la chambre basse du Parlement piémontais ; son élection fut d'abord annulée parce qu'il était aussi consul de Prusse à Nice, puis validée après sa réélection à une large majorité et sa démission de ce poste consulaire. Né à Nice, il mourut à Paris en février 1856 et fut inhumé à Nice, selon son propre souhait.
