Talmudiste, actif à Lunel dans la seconde moitié du XIIe siècle, fils du savant Meshoulam ben Jacob et élève de Joseph ibn Plat et d'Abraham ben David de Posquières, dont il partage les tendances ascétiques. Selon Benjamin de Tudèle, il vivait dans une réclusion complète, tout entier voué à l'étude de la Torah, et ne goûtait jamais de viande, sans pour autant se montrer hostile à la philosophie — Juda ibn Tibbon louait son goût pour la science. Il est l'auteur de plusieurs ouvrages talmudiques, dont le « Hilkhot Yom-Tov » et le « Sefer ha-Matanot », aujourd'hui perdus.
