Aronson, Rudolph

Compositeur et directeur de théâtre, né à New York le 8 avril 1856. Formé au Conservatoire de Vienne puis à celui de Paris, où il approfondit l'étude des compositeurs français, il se fait d'abord connaître à New York comme directeur de concerts au Madison Square Garden, avant de construire une salle de concert à Broadway, inaugurée le 27 mai 1880 — où naît le « roof-garden » d'été. Il fonde ensuite le Casino, théâtre mauresque consacré à l'opérette, inauguré le 22 octobre 1882, premier foyer permanent de l'opéra léger en Amérique ; il a composé plus de cent cinquante danses, marches et pièces orchestrales.
