Médecin allemand, né à Stettin, en Poméranie, le 12 mars 1864. Diplômé de médecine en 1888 après des études à Berlin, Munich et Heidelberg, il s'installe comme praticien à Berlin en 1890, après un tour d'Europe. Médecin adjoint à l'hôpital juif de Berlin de 1891 à 1896, il s'y spécialise en laryngologie, et contribue à plusieurs revues médicales, dont le « Berliner Klinische Wochenschrift » (1892) et le « Deutsche Medizinische Wochenschrift » (1896).
