Député bavarois et avocat, né à Bayreuth le 23 février 1812, mort dans la même ville le 31 janvier 1864. Destiné par ses parents au commerce, il reçoit une solide éducation juive et se distingue tôt en Bible et en Talmud, mais son goût pour les sciences le pousse à entrer, à dix-sept ans, au lycée. Il étudie ensuite le droit à Munich et Erlangen, et devient en 1848 avocat royal à Naïla puis dans sa ville natale. Élu par Hof et Münchberg à la Diète bavaroise, seul Juif de sa circonscription, il y siège jusqu'à sa mort, réélu sans opposition à quatre reprises, et y défend ses coreligionnaires contre les accusations antisémites.
