Évêque de Calahorra et président du conseil de Castille à la fin du XVe siècle, victime des persécutions contre les marranes. Fils de Gonzalo Alonzo, l'un des Juifs convertis au temps de Vicente Ferrer, il voit l'inquisiteur Torquemada accuser son père d'être mort marrane, exigeant l'exhumation de ses ossements et la déchéance de ses fils. Le pape Sixte IV s'oppose à cette dégradation sommaire de hauts dignitaires et fait mener une enquête à Rome ; Aranda, d'abord épargné, finit par tomber victime de la cupidité pontificale et se voit accusé de sacrilège. Deux de ses compagnons marranes parviennent à s'échapper le 20 avril 1497.
