Conseiller honoraire à la Cour de cassation française et officier de la Légion d'honneur, né à Metz en 1800, mort le 3 décembre 1875. Avocat à Paris lors de la révolution de juillet 1830, à laquelle il prend une part active, il est nommé substitut du procureur à Meaux, puis devient successivement juge suppléant, substitut du procureur général, conseiller à la Cour d'appel et enfin conseiller à la Cour de cassation — premier Juif à occuper un tel poste dans la magistrature suprême française. Membre du consistoire de Paris, il est élu en 1845 au Consistoire central ; l'une de ses filles épouse le baron Gustave de Rothschild.
