Écrivain hongrois, né le 30 novembre 1857. Après des études à l'université de Budapest, il enseigne au lycée de la ville tout en s'imposant comme historien et critique littéraire. Parmi ses ouvrages : « Berzsenyi Dániel » (1879), « Késmárk Tököly Imre, 1657-1705 » (1882) et « Magyarország Története II. Mátyástól III. Ferdinand Haláláig » (1889), sixième volume de l'« Histoire nationale hongroise » de Szilágyi publiée pour le millénaire du royaume de Hongrie. Il traduit aussi plusieurs œuvres de Macaulay et de Paul Janet en hongrois et édite les œuvres des poètes Kölcsey et Kisfaludy. Angyal s'est fait baptiser.
