Rabbin de Semlin, en Croatie, mort en octobre 1878. Militant de la restauration des Juifs en Palestine, il compte parmi les précurseurs du sionisme moderne de Theodor Herzl. Son « Goral la-Adonaï » (Vienne, 1857) propose la formation d'une société par actions pour amener le sultan à céder la Palestine aux Juifs comme pays tributaire. Il revient sur ce thème dans « Shema' Yisraël » (1861 ou 1862) et « Shelom Yeroushalayim » (1840), et publie à Vienne, en 1843, le « Minḥat Yehoudah », panégyrique de Montefiore et Crémieux, sauveurs des Juifs de Damas.
