Alfonsi, Petrus

Controversiste et médecin ordinaire du roi Alphonse VI de Castille, né Moïse Sépharadi à Huesca, en Aragon, en 1062, mort en 1110 à quarante-huit ans. Converti au christianisme, il est baptisé à Huesca le jour de la Saint-Pierre, le 29 juin 1106, dans sa quarante-cinquième année, et prend alors le nom de Petrus Alfonsi. Il compose douze dialogues contre le judaïsme opposant Moïse et Pierre — lui-même avant et après sa conversion — et laisse surtout un recueil de trente-trois contes latins, la « Disciplina Clericalis », qui connaîtra une remarquable fortune dans la littérature comparée.
