Écrivain hongrois et professeur de philosophie et d'esthétique, né à Budapest le 13 avril 1850. Admis en 1878 comme docent à la faculté de philosophie de l'université de Budapest, il y devient professeur en 1895 ; depuis 1892, il enseigne aussi la dramaturgie et l'esthétique à l'Académie nationale de théâtre. Auteur, notamment, d'un ouvrage sur Kant couronné par l'Académie des sciences (1889), il dirige, avec József Bánóczi, la collection « Filosofiai Irók Tára » et a édité de 1882 à 1886 la revue pédagogique « Magyar Tanügy ».
