Born in Casablanca, arrived in Israel as a child, he grew up in the large housing complexes for immigrants in Jerusalem. Writer and art critic, he published in 1990 the Hebrew novel Aqud ("Bound"), acclaimed for its rich language and graphic portrayal of the childhood of North African Jews (Mizrahim) in 1970s Israel.
