Region: Marmoutier (Bas-Rhin), Paris, Boulogne-Billancourt

History register · custodian, not owner

Investment banker born in Marmoutier in Alsace. Animated by an ideal of universal peace, he launched in 1909 the 'Archives de la Planète', a vast collection of autochromes (color photographs on glass plates) and films shot in about sixty countries until 1931 (~72,000 autochromes). Ruined by the crisis of the 1930s, he died in Boulogne-Billancourt in 1940.
