History register · custodian, not owner
Born in 1939 to a Jewish family of Alsatian origin, republican and not particularly observant (his father, inspector of the Bank of France, was killed in action in June 1940). A physicist, he became one of the leaders of May 68 (alongside Sauvageot and Cohn-Bendit) heading the SNESup, then led the Gauche prolétarienne (Maoist group). He subsequently became inspector general of the Education Ministry.
