Juriste autrichien né à Prague le 31 mars 1865, fils de Moritz Adler, il étudia aux universités de Prague et de Vienne, fut professeur extraordinaire de droit commercial à Vienne de 1893 à 1898, puis professeur de droit civil à l'université de Czernowitz en 1900 ; il se convertit au catholicisme en 1898. Il est l'auteur du « Oesterreichische Lagerhausrecht » (1892), traité sur le droit autrichien des entrepôts, de « Realcontract und Vorvertrag » (1892) et d'une étude sur le droit des sociétés, « Zur Entwicklungslehre und Dogmatik des Gesellschaftsrechts » (1895).
