Esclave juive de Livie, épouse de l'empereur Auguste, elle tomba, durant les troubles familiaux des dernières années de la vie d'Hérode, sous l'influence du fils de celui-ci, Antipater, alors établi à Rome. Séduite par des présents et des promesses, elle forgea une lettre compromettante attribuée à Salomé, sœur d'Hérode, adressée à sa maîtresse Livie, et la fit parvenir à Hérode par l'intermédiaire d'Antiphilus. Sa culpabilité fut découverte grâce à une lettre interceptée où elle avouait la falsification à la demande d'Antipater ; Hérode en informa Auguste, et Acme fut mise à mort en 5 avant l'ère chrétienne.
