Commentateur de la liturgie synagogale, il vécut à Séville, en Espagne, vers 1340, et fut l'élève de Jacob ben Asher. Dans son ouvrage sans titre propre, connu sous le nom de « Ḥibbour Peirouch ha-Berakhot we-ha-Tefillot », il rassembla, à l'intention d'un public peu instruit, les explications tirées des Talmuds de Babylone et de Jérusalem, des Gueonim et des commentateurs jusqu'à son époque, pour chaque partie du livre de prières, y ajoutant un exposé systématique du calendrier juif.
