Médecin russe du XIXe siècle, membre correspondant de l'Académie des sciences de Saint-Pétersbourg, il fut fait citoyen d'honneur héréditaire par le gouvernement russe pour ses travaux en matière de salubrité publique et chargé, à la demande du gouvernement, d'établir le programme de l'école juive d'Ouman, dans le gouvernement de Podolie. En 1849, il reçut le titre de conseiller collégial et fut élu la même année membre de l'Odessa English Club, réservé aux nobles russes ; il est l'auteur de plusieurs ouvrages médicaux.
