Chef caraïte actif en Pologne à la fin du dix-septième siècle, favori du roi Jean III Sobieski (1674-96) et grandement impliqué dans la fondation de colonies caraïtes aux environs de Lemberg, en Galicie. Selon un manuscrit hébreu sur les Caraïtes de Pologne, c'est le roi Jean Sobieski qui conçut le projet de ces colonies et, en 1688, chargea Abraham Chofet d'inviter plusieurs familles caraïtes de Lituanie et de Crimée à s'installer en Galicie ; nombre d'entre elles, venues de Troki, y reçurent privilèges et autonomie communale. Neubauer suppose que le surnom Chofet (« Juge ») indique que le hakham des Caraïtes lituaniens exerçait une autorité judiciaire.
