Violoniste et chef d'orchestre né à Worms en 1804, mort à Stuttgart le 18 janvier 1891 ; élève de Schlösser puis de Reicha, il entra en 1825 dans les orchestres royaux de Stuttgart, dont il prit la direction en 1854 après avoir souvent remplacé le chef Lindpaintner. Auteur de nombreuses mélodies et pièces instrumentales, d'ouvertures, de ballets et de la musique du drame « Hariadan » donné à Stuttgart en 1842, il n'en fit publier que très peu.
