Astronome russe né à Dünaburg (aujourd'hui Dvinsk) en 1866 et mort à Wilna le 29 décembre 1898, formé à Moscou puis à Berlin, il travailla aux observatoires de Poulkovo et de Saint-Pétersbourg. Membre de la Société astronomique impériale de Russie, il publia notamment « O Padayushchikh Zvyezdakh », adopté comme manuel par l'Université de Moscou, ainsi que des articles d'astronomie dans la presse russe et allemande.
