Amora palestinien du IVe siècle, contemporain des amoraïm babyloniens Rab Ḥisda et Rab Joseph, et aîné de R. Assi II qui rapportait des décisions halakiques en son nom. Il avait coutume de voyager pour diffuser les traditions entre les académies de Palestine et de Babylonie, d'où son surnom de Naḥota, « celui qui descend en Babylonie ».
