Talmudiste austro-bohémien (1795–1881), formé par son père R. Mordecai Baer, dont il prit la tête de la yeshiva à 18 ans ; celle-ci compta jusqu'à 80 élèves. Dernier rosh yeshiva de Bohême, il tolérait les études profanes. Reçut la visite de Moses Montefiore après l'affaire de Damas. Arrière-grand-père de l'écrivain expressionniste Paul Kornfeld.
