Enseignant, philosophe, médecin et poète liturgique karaïte de Constantinople, né à Sulchat, en Crimée, vers 1260 et mort vers 1320 ; dit l'Ancien pour le distinguer d'Aaron ben Élie de Nicomédie. Chef spirituel de la communauté karaïte de sa ville natale dès l'âge de dix-neuf ans, il contribua au renouvellement du karaïsme par des éléments philosophiques emprunté à la littérature rabbanite et composa en 1294 le « Mibḥar », commentaire du Pentateuque à la manière d'Ibn Ezra.
