Sixième des dix enfants de Samuel Montagu, 1er baron Swaythling, et sœur d'Edwin Montagu. Fondatrice du mouvement du judaïsme libéral en Grande-Bretagne et de la World Union for Progressive Judaism. Autrice de onze livres, dont Thoughts on Judaism (1902), Prayers for Jewish Working Girls (premier livre de prières libéral) et son autobiographie The Faith of a Jewish Woman (1943).
