Éditeur, poète et humoriste yiddish né à Odessa, émigré aux États-Unis en 1893. Il reprit et dirigea durablement l'hebdomadaire satirique Der Groyser Kundes (« Le grand espiègle »), qu'il transforma en une importante revue littéraire et politique attirant des collaborateurs comme Sholem-Aleikhem, Yehoash et Avrom Reyzen. Il publia aussi trois recueils de poésie.
