Rabbin et talmudiste né à Zamora ; après l'expulsion d'Espagne (1492), il s'établit à Salonique, où il composa le Ein Yaakov, compilation de tout le matériel aggadique du Talmud avec commentaires, dans la bibliothèque de Don Judah Benveniste. Il mourut à Salonique alors que les premiers ordres sortaient de presse ; son fils acheva l'œuvre.
