Les Juifs de Nabeul

Nabeul, a city in Cap Bon renowned for its pottery, welcomed a Jewish community of merchants and craftspeople integrated into the local economy. Of Tunisian Sefardi tradition, its members had their own synagogues and community institutions and benefited under French Protectorate from access to modern education. Like all Tunisian Judaism, the community experienced the trials of the Second World War. After independence in 1956, it dispersed, its members emigrating mainly to France and Israel.
