La Bibliothèque universitaire de Heidelberg, fondée en 1386, conserve l'un des plus anciens fonds de manuscrits hébreux médiévaux d'Allemagne, distinct du fonds De Rossi de Parme. Elle renferme notamment des codex bibliques et talmudiques provenant de la bibliothèque électorale palatine. Ces manuscrits sont numérisés et accessibles via le portail Manuscripta Mediaevalia. Leur provenance rhénane en fait un témoin irremplaçable du judaïsme ashkénaze médiéval.
